Outlook Webmail Spam Filter

Outlook has a very good spam filtering system. In an Outlook webmail account, there is a, Junk folder, to quarantine spam. By default, Microsoft which manages Outlook accounts including Hotmail accounts quarantines spam and junk mail it detects. Users of Outlook accounts can add or remove email addresses to or from the Junk mail list. Email addresses can be added to the block list by following the following instructions.



Manual addition of email addresses to block list:

1.  Click on the gear icon to access Settings.



2.  Click on the, ‘View all Outlook settings’, link.



3.  Click on the, ‘Junk email’, tab.



4.  Under, ‘Blocked senders and domains’, click on, ‘+ Add’.



5.  In the empty textbox, enter in the email address you would like to add to the block list and press the, ‘Enter’ key, or, click on an empty spot on the web page.



You can now return to your Inbox.



If you want to add an email address to the whitelist, click on, ‘+ Add’, to be able to add the email address to the, ‘Safe senders and domains’, list.

Now, you can exit, ‘Safe senders and domains’, section and Settings and return to your Inbox.







Drag and Drop

Email messages can also be dragged and dropped into the Junk folder to have them be classified as spam or junk mail. Most email services have this feature.
