Document Storage in Email Accounts
Storing Documents in Email Accounts
Many email service providers provide users storage space for documents. Often, there are limitations to the file types that can be uploaded to email accounts. Usually, only documents and images can be uploaded to an email account’s file storage space. Files stored in email accounts can be attached to emails as inline attachments or even downloaded to a specific computer. If an email service has online apps like Outlook does, the online apps could be utilized to edit and create documents on the browser. Outlook.com for example has a number of Microsoft apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Users can create documents with these apps on browsers. Online storage drives in email accounts can even include folders just like on computer drives. This allows files to be organized by the user. Trash folders or folders for deleted files are included in online storage drives and function like any other folder for deleted emails or Desktop Recycle Bin folders in Windows.
Web Apps
Online Apps for Document Editing
Apps in email accounts with Microsoft Outlook can be used to edit documents, online. Word documents for wordprocessing tasks can be created and edited on the Internet. These same documents can be downloaded to the computer and Word documents can be uploaded to the OneDrive folder, too. The same is true for Excel, too, as an example. Online apps for document editing is convenient for users to utilize for work purposes. A big advantage to Outlook web apps is that they are free. A Mac or Linux user can even use these web apps even though Microsoft apps for document editing may not be supported on Linux systems for Desktop environments and servers.

Limitations
Web apps have their limitations compared to apps installed on the computer or laptop. Often, they have less features. Reduced speed over the Internet may be experienced, too, while using them. They can only be used while using the Internet. Security can be compromised, too. However, web apps like Excel in Microsoft Outlook accounts generally work well. It is important to note that Microsoft web apps are much more basic than the same apps which can be installed on the computer. Web apps tend to be more limited in terms of features due to platform limitations.
Alternative Document Storage Method Online
Cloud drives are an alternative means for data storage on the Internet. This includes documents and photos. While email accounts often offer cloud storage space for files, cloud drives are solely designated for data storage. They are also more secure, too.
